Thanks Ron & Beth for coming and staying with us in Virginia. It was fun being snowed in for 8 days! Will post some pics

Dear Cash,

When I was a little boy I thought a lot about God. I can still remember going to church and looking around for God. I thought that God lived in church if the church was His home.

As I grew older I prayed every night before I went to sleep. When I was a teenager I was going by a church one day and a man gave me a tract. The tract said that Jesus had died for my sins. At the time I did not know what that meant, but in a few years I would understand.

A few years later I was in a Baptist Church and the preacher gave an invitation. The invitation was to come to the front of the church if anyone wanted Jesus to forgive their sins. I wanted to walk to the front of the church but stayed in my seat.

Shortly after my 17th birthday I attended a Youth For Christ meeting with some of my friends. Near the end of the meeting the leader shared some verses from the Bible. The verses were Revelation 3:15-16. Jesus is talking in these versed and He says, “I want you to be either hot or coild, if you are lukewarm, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”

I prayed right then to receive Jesus as my Savior and asked Jesus to forgive my sins. I know that Jesus did forgive my sins. I contine to pray to Him and depend on the promises of the Bible every day of my life. My prayer for you, Cash, is that you will pray to Jesus and depend upon the promises of the Bible every day of your life.

Love,

PaPa Ron

Dearest McKenna Kate,

NaNa was so thrilled to hear from your Daddy and Mommy, that you had prayed to ask Jesus into your heart on October 26, 2009. Did you know that NaNa was 6 years old when she was saved?

I was at a Backyard Bible Club at my cousin’s house. I don’t remember the exact date, but I was in the first grade and it was winter time. I remember my cousin had talked about how Jesus was coming back soon and if we had never before asked Jesus to forgive our sins, come into our hearts, and try to do what Jesus would do with our lives, we couldn’t go to live with Him in heaven. My older sister and brother had already asked Jesus to be their Lord, but I knew I had never done that. My cousin asked the children that were there that day, to raise a hand if we wanted to pray a prayer with her later and ask Jesus to come into their hearts. My heart was pounding and I was about to cry. I knew Jesus loved me and wanted me to be His own and to live with Him in heaven some day. I went to Sunday School and Church like you, and I knew all of the Bible stories on how God had sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for me. I’m so thankful He didn’t stay dead, but rose again and lives in heaven with God the Father. So, I finally raised my hand and after she was done praying, she asked me if I wanted to come with her into a prayer room at her house to ask Jesus to forgive me of my sins. I still remember walking into that room. It was so small and had boxes of books, crafts, magic tricks and dummy puppets hanging on the walls. I closed my eyes and prayed to Jesus. I asked Him to forgive me for all of the wrong things that I had done. I asked Him to come into my heart and make it clean. I told Him I wanted to please Him with all that I did and that I wanted to live with Him in heaven someday, too.

I remember how excited I was when I got done praying. I couldn’t wait until my Dad picked me and my brother and sister up from my cousin’s house. I told my Dad I was a Christian and that I had prayed to ask Jesus into my heart. He was excited. He said we had to get home right away and tell Mom. I remember leaning forward in the front seat of the car, straining my eyes to see my house on the farm. I ran into the house to tell my Mom. She was excited too…then she told me about a dream she had the night before. She had dreamed that Jesus had come back to take all of those who had prayed to be saved, up with Him to heaven. As she was flying up to heaven with Jesus, she kept trying to grab my uplifted arms to her as I ran along behind her across the cornfield trying to reach her. But, she couldn’t take me with her, because I hadn’t been saved yet. That dream bothered my Mom. You see, all that day while I was at school and at the Backyard Bible Club, my Mother had been praying that I would receive Jesus into my heart. She knew that I was old enough to understand and needed to ask forgiveness for my sins and ask Jesus into my heart. I am so thankful for my Mother who prayed for me. We must remember to pray for others, so that they can know Jesus in their hearts, too!

NaNa has made you a Bible bookmark to remind you of your salvation experience. The cross on the bottom was given to me by a girl named, Keri, who was in China as a short-term missionary. Can you believe that the cross came all the way from China?!! Each of the beads tells the story of how to become a Christian and about our life with Jesus. The pink turtle on the top of the bookmark is to remind you, like the turtle, to be STEADY and DETERMINED in your faith in Christ. Did you know that some species of turtles live to be well over a hundred years old? NaNa will be praying that you make your Jesus proud of you and that you serve Him faithfully all of your days!

I love you, my granddaughter,

NaNa

Here is the story of each of the beads that explain how we become saved and our life with Jesus afterwards.

BLACK BEAD – reminds us that our hearts without Jesus cannot please God. They are dark or wicked, full of sin.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 17:9

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”

RED BEAD – reminds us that we don’t have to have wicked, black hearts; we can ask Jesus to save us! Just like you did. The red is a symbol of Jesus’ blood that He shed on the cross for you and me and everybody. All we have to do is ask His forgiveness for our sins.

The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:7

“But if we are living in the light as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.”

WHITE BEAD – reminds us that when we are saved God remembers our sins or wrongs things that we have done, no more. He washes our hearts clean and as pure as white new snow.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 1:18

“Come now let’s settle this, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”

GREEN BEAD – Have you ever seen and evergreen tree? It stays green all year around. It doesn’t hibernate, drop its needles and get all crusty and brown. It’s as if it never dies. That‘s what I think of when I see this green bead. It reminds us of the eternal life we now have, because we have asked Jesus to come into our hearts and save us. We will live forever with Him…imagine that!

The Bible tells us in Titus 3:1

“Because of God’s grace, He declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”

GOLD BEAD – is to remind us that someday we will go to Heaven to live with God our Father. Heaven IS a wonderful place!

The Bible tells us in John 14:2-3

Jesus says, “There is more than enough room in my Father’s house. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”
